Yilgarnia Wines was established by Peter and Peg Buxton, who have been farming in Denmark for over 50 years. Today, their son Anthony Buxton continues the legacy as Chief Viticulturist and Winemaker—and as part owner of Barrel Farm, he brings that same passion and expertise to the cellar door experience.

With Barrel Farm now home to Yilgarnia Wines, the focus remains unchanged: a dedication to crafting quality red and white wines, along with handcrafted méthode champenoise sparkling wines in red, white, and rosé. White Wines

CHARDONNAY

This modern cool climate unwooded Chardonnay delivers enticing fresh citrus aromas seamlessly integrated with tones of white peach and nectarine. A vibrant long and scrumptious palate with finely balanced acid support leaves you with an elegant clean finish.
SAUVINNON BLANC

Harvested to achieve maximum fruit complexity and flavour after a dry pristine growing season, this fine Sauvignon Blanc demonstrates a beautiful balance of young acidity with delicate gooseberry and passionfruit tones and a lingering citrus finish.

SEMILLON SAUVIGNON BLANC

Our most popular classic blend successfully expresses a complex combination of grassy herbaceous tones from the Semillon with ripe stone fruit and passionfruit characteristics from the Sauvignon Blanc. Its lingering vibrancy and zesty lemon finish will have you reaching back for another pour.
CHARDONNAY OAKED 2017

This French-oaked cool-climate Chardonnay offers vibrant nectarine and melon aromatics wrapped in subtle toasty vanillin oak. The palate is rich yet balanced, showing stone fruit, melon and a creamy savoury mid-palate that leads into a fine, spicy oak finish lifted by refreshing citrus acidity.

MERLOT

This aromatic cool climate Merlot has rich gracious aromas of ripe red berries with a hint of earthy oak. Packed with delicious cherry flavours that linger on the palate, well rounded with elegant firm tannins.
SHIRAZ

A long growing season of sunny days and cool nights along the South Coast has ensured the rich dark berry flavours develop into elegant velvet characteristics with savoury notes of earth and spice. This approachable Shiraz crafts a beautiful complexity of oak, fruit and acidity with great concentration of flavour.

CABERNET MERLOT

Sparkling Wine

REMEMBERANCE

ur hand-crafted Sparkling White displays classic flavours of citrus and stone fruit. The delicate fruit characteristics are supported by a savoury cashew yeast texture with an impressive long clean finish.

The Yilgarnia vineyard is located on land adjacent to King George Sound, Albany.  Remembrance Sparkling White is named in recognition of the ANZACS who first departed from these shores on 1st November 1914.

SPARKLING SHIRAZ

This Methode Traditionale Sparkling Shiraz displays classic black pepper & fruit cake intensity. These flavours are complimented by earthier tones with a savoury yeast texture.
PEGGY'S PET NAT

Our artisanal approach to a naturally fermented Chardonnay with a hint of Merlot creating a pink blush Pet Nat. A super young sparkling joy that is bursting with fresh citrus, apple & peachy pear flavours. The perfect match for picnics on lazy sunny afternoons paired with your favourite grazing board.

VINTAGE PORT

Rich and indulgent, this Denmark Port reveals layers of ripe blackberry, plum and anise, wrapped in mocha and subtle spice. A warming spirit adds depth, leading to a smooth, lingering coffee liqueur finish. Perfect for slow sipping alongside cheese or decadent chocolate.

MOSCATO

Light, aromatic and delicately sweet, this Moscato is filled with notes of pink rose petals and hints of Turkish delight. Soft, refreshing and lightly sparkling, it’s an easy-drinking summer favourite—best enjoyed well chilled or poured over ice.
